The Advantages and Disadvantages of Alternative Energy

It is ones individual discretion about any energy source they want to make use of but taking into account the various advantages and disadvantages into account.

It is a known act that one can become environmentally friendly by making use of the alternative energy resources and save the entire world from wasting the natural resources. A lot of the countries have proved that making use of the renewable energy resources have lead them to having umpteen work opportunities for their people.

One has to look at all the pros and cons of the alternative energy sources. As only the electricity can be stored when compared to the renewable energy which has the maximum impact of running. One cannot be able to store the alternative energy source nor consume in large quantities. Anyone making use of the alternative energy must have sufficient knowledge of what they are using and how to maintain it. Most people don't know much about alternative energy, only those that specialize in it, which is a huge disadvantage for most people.

Solar Energy
Solar power works wonderfully and would save us lots of electricity. One of the greatest benefits of this is that sun-power is always free and abundant. Depending on what part of the world an individual lives in will determine whether they can depend on solar power alone can take the place of electricity. Those people who are living in higher planes cannot make use of the solar energy as it cannot be made available in these areas despite their need to have it. Solar energy is the best alternative energy for homes.

Wind Energy
In order for wind to work as an energy alternative, there would need to be lots of it. This alternative source of energy will be best generated in places having maximum content of water. In order to have the air capture properly one needs to have a lot of space where the windmills can be constructed. This alternative source of energy cannot be created by those regions having lesser air.

Tidal Energy
The ocean's tides are used for natural power of generating plants to make energy. This kind of energy is quite erratic as it depends on the movement of the tides varying on so many factors. Tidal energy may be hazardous for the safety of the animals and birds as well.

Hydroelectric Energy
This is energy that is basically used for dam operations. The water from the ocean is what is used to keep the dam operating. By this method energy gets utilized to the optimum. The prime disadvantage of this is that it is not possible to construct dams at all places and that too with so much of money required.

Alternative energy - the advantages

Your continued use of fossil fuels has come under a lot of scrutiny recently. We hear about alternative energy and how it should be used instead of fossil fuels. He entertained in this thinking? I wonder what are the advantages of the use of alternative energy and how it can benefit from it?

It will answer these questions for you, but first, let's be clear about what renewable or alternative energy. Alternative energy is the term used for non-fossil energy sources. Although not all the alternative renewable energy sources, for our purposes of discussion, we shall confine ourselves to renewable energy resources.

Renewable energy sources are those that can not be exhausted and will therefore never be implemented. Examples of these are Sun, wind, water, tides, waves and still many others. To illustrate this point, imagine using wind energy to generate electricity for your home. The wind is always in the atmosphere, blowing in your environment. His strength and speed is not always the same, but you can be sure that the use of this energy now will not decrease its offer of wind in the future.

In fact, this is an obvious advantage of the use of renewable or alternative energy. To differ from fossil fuels where the supply of which is in rapid decline, never have to worry about running out of renewable energy. It will not happen.

Another very important advantage of the use of alternative energy is its contribution to environmental well-being. The burning of fossil fuels, a necessary process in turning them into a consumable energy, pollute the environment in a manner not repairable. Global warming, or global warming of the Earth due to the increased emission of GHGs in the atmosphere, is a problem very prevalent faced around the world. And fossil fuels are a major contributor to this environmental concern.

On the other hand, the use of renewable energy sources do not bring a higher emission of greenhouse gases because burning is no longer required for its use. Also, alternative energy sources like wind energy, solar energy, energy from hydro, tidal energy and wave energy are clean and unpolluted. Thus, in addition to not add to pollution by greenhouse gases improved, these types of alternative energy do not contribute to other forms of environmental degradation. Everything that affects the use of renewable energy sources entails, is minimal compared to the consequences of the use of fossil fuels.

In addition, the use of alternative energy will benefit the local economy because we no longer need to import fossil fuels to generate electricity. Will now be generated locally electricity, also will mean more employment opportunities for the locals.

The use of alternative energy sometimes require substantial investments of capital, but in the long run, no doubt will be more profitable for the economy or investor, especially because the offer is virtually free. And more importantly, will be the lowest cost to the environment.

Biomass Advantages - Put Your Waste Products in Your Gas Tank

Check out these biomass advantages.

1. Biomass energy resources is plentiful.Anything that will decompose and/or burn can be used as biomass energy. Therefore, biomass resources are very plentiful. Grass clippings, animal waste, corn stalks, acorns, tree limbs, meal scraps ...... can all be used for biomass energy.

biomass sources

2. It is easy to convert to fuel I used to drive by a landfill in Indiana every month. There used to be pipes coming out of the landfill with flames that never stopped. They were burning off methane gas from the buried waste. Alcohol has been around for thousands of years. In fact, automobiles and other machinery were running on ethanol almost 100 years ago. And guess what? Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world is independent of foreign oil. they run all their cars on Ethanol. So the technology is there.

3. The Technology is There. The technology is there to produce alcohol as a fuel or to make biodiesel fuel. Farmers were using it almost 100 years ago. Henry Ford was an advocate of alcohol fuel before the Prohibition. Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, uses nothing but alcohol as it's choice of automotive fuel. Alcohol itself has been around for thousands of years. And anyone can get a permit to produce alcohol fuel from the government.

4. Helps to utilize idle farmland and deforested areas. There is still plenty of land out there that can be producing biomass. Using this idle land will produce biomass, create jobs and help us break away from foreign oil. A great plus for biomass advantages.

5. Biomass absorbs CO2 If it is produced on a renewable basis using biomass energy does not result in a net carbon dioxide increase as plants absorb it when they grow. Through the process of photosynthesis, carbon dioxide is absorbed into the plants. When burned, CO2 is emitted but at least it is balanced out. fossil fuels only add CO@ into the atmosphere.

Advantages of Geothermal Energy - What are the Advantages of Geothermal Energy?

Geothermal Activity

Think of all the advantages of geothermal energy when you have a lava flow in your backyard. You could dry your clothes, warm your house and heat your water. Even cook dinner if you wanted. Well geothermal does help you do that without having to get so close to the source. if you are fortunate enough to live in an area with this geologic activity in play close under the surface of the Earth, you can harness this energy. Let's look at some of the advantages of geothermal energy.

1. No fuel is needed. For me to heat my home, I have to tap into the electric grid powered by Florida Power and Light. They get most of their electricity from The Power Plant that burns coal to run the generators. With geothermal energy, the fuel is already there. No need for coal or oil or wood.

2. No Pollution. Geothermal Energy produces no pollution. There are virtually no greenhouse gases given off. There is no pollution.

3.Relatively efficient. Geothermal energy is also very efficient, because after a site is located and a geothermal power plant is built, the efforts required to channel it are negligible.

You will also find there there is much less land impact when using geothermal plants. They usually are not as obtrusive as are nuclear or electric power plants.

4. Geothermal Energy is Renewable. Perhaps one of the most important advantage of geothermal energy is that, unlike energy derived from carbon-based sources, geothermal energy is a constant energy source. it will never run out. And because it is ubiquitous, its cost will never continue to rise with time.

So after you place your initial investment into researching the site and building the geothermal plant, your expenditures besides maintenance are nil. Virtually free energy from this point on.
